Creative Technology Digest
Distilled insights, analysis and commentary at the nexus of AR/VR, AI & Tech Culture. Recommended reading for the creative technologist in any field.
Hey, I'm Bilawal Sidhu. I grew up across India, the UK and USA, and have been obsessed with creative technology since I first got hands on a DOS prompt and a copy of 3D Studio.
👨🏽💻 By day I'm a Senior Product Manager at Google building immersive 3D experiences to help you explore and get stuff done in the real world 📍
👨🏽🎨 By night I don my creator avatar Billyfx@ — a 3D/VFX Creator on YouTube (300K+) & TikTok (900K+) where I blend reality and imagination with the art & science of visual effects✨
While on this timeless quest to becoming a better creative and technologist, I’ve enjoyed sharing my experiments with 3D, AR/VR and AI art 🔮 and helping creators to harness it too.
Creation is a ton of fun, I’m also a product and engineering professional — one who’s deeply fascinated by the rapidly evolving landscape. These are generational trends and paradigm shifts playing out — it’s an interplay of technology, art and culture.
Over the past decade that fasciation has been fuel at work for writing detailed analyses, spicy hot takes and visual deep dives — always garnering appreciation for distilling complex topics with poise and (apparently) a sense of humor. Sometimes the writing would go viral across orgs and the company, and influence real shifts in strategy and execution.
With a bunch of my colleagues and friends encouraging me write — and surprisingly in unison about doing it on Substack — I’m also excited to cultivate an outlet that doesn’t necessarily involve making viral VFX videos to chase that video metrics fueled dopamine hit. Though it will be fun to do video/photo heavy blogs from time-to-time — especially given all the visual nature of all these advancements in AI.
So that brings us to today — a time when innovations have absolutely outpaced the classic Gartner analysis lifecycle — with the conversation happening on Twitter and Discord and AI/ML models making massive leaps in 2 month spurts. It’s a bit chaotic, overwhelming and hard to find the signal through the noise.
Subscribe to the Creative Technology Digest and let me become your new secret weapon — humors hot takes aplenty, but critically — it’ll keep you up to speed with the innovations taking place across these complex ecosystems. My writing goal always is to distill insights, provide practical use cases to help you apply learnings to your own creations and strategies.
No controversy or negativity here — What you will find here is the the glass half full view — the good stuff — the recommended reading for all creative technologists. So if you do subscribe and enjoy this publication, feel free to share it and recommend it and help expand our creative technology community.
