Genie 3: Is Google Making Game Engines Obsolete?
Genie 3 generates interactive video in real time.
I just watched Google's demo for Genie 3, and it feels like one of those pivotal moments. This is the closest thing I've seen to a true "world simulator," an AI you can direct and play inside of in real-time. They've essentially created a model that can take a prompt and spin up a consistent, navigable 24 FPS HD world with a memory.
Genie 3 Generates Interactive Video in Real Time
In the full demo below, you'll see exactly what makes this a landmark moment. Pay close attention to how the world isn't just a static backdrop—it has a memory, with footprints that persist and painted walls that stay colored. The truly wild part is the real-time prompting, where they simply type "a man in a chicken suit" and he instantly appears and walks into the scene. This isn't a polished sizzle reel; it's a raw glimpse at a powerful new creative primitive.

On The Horizon ðŸ”
Genie 3 points to a future where creative expression is less about technical execution with complex software and more about imaginative direction. The barrier between an idea and a fully-realized, interactive experience is dissolving. I can't wait to see what happens when developers and creators get their hands on this and start automating entire creative workflows within these generated worlds.
If you found this useful, share it with fellow reality mappers. The future's too interesting to navigate alone.
